Bio:
Ralf Zimmermann works at the intersection of computational mathematics, applied differential geometry and real-life engineering applications with a special focus on Riemannian Computing. He is fascinated when tools from a certain area of mathematics can be used to solve a problem in a seemingly completely different sub-area, and he still wonders at the beauty when theoretical concepts come to life in numerical algorithms, computations, and simulations.
Ralf obtained his PhD from Kiel University and held research positions at the German Aerospace Center, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Technical University of Braunschweig.
