I am David Martínez-Rubio a professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid in Spain, in the
SP group. During 2022-2024, I was a postdoc at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) in the
IOL group, where I worked with
Sebastian Pokutta among others. Prior to this, I was a PhD student at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford supervised by Prof.
Varun Kanade and Prof.
Patrick Rebeschini.
I am interested in continuous optimization and fields that interplay with it, like online learning and statistical machine learning. My focus is on high-dimensional problems appearing in machine learning, and network analysis, among others. Some topics I have worked on are accelerated methods, Frank-Wolfe algorithms, Riemannian geodesically-convex optimization, fair-packing, PageRank, and bandit problems.
